Sir Paul McCartney and One Direction support Greenpeace campaign

21 06 2012

A host of celebrities including Sir Sir Paul McCartney, One Direction, Alexandra Burke and Penelope Cruz have joined forces with Greenpeace to demand a halt to oil drilling and unsustainable fishing in Arctic waters.

The charity is calling for the uninhabited area around the North Pole to be legally protected, and supporters have signed an Arctic Scroll, launched last week at the Rio Earth Summit. When a million signatures have been received, Greenpeace will embark on an expedition to plant it on the seabed at the North Pole, marking the spot with a Flag for the Future.
